My boyfriend depressed pushing me away

Loved ones often remark that depression has changed the person they love. They don't know if the apapathy they experience is a symptom of the depression or if their partner has fallen out of love with them. This leads to questions like "If he or she gets treatment for depression, will he or she fall back in love with me? There are so many factors involved with relationships that it is impossible to offer any black and white answers to such questions.

5 Things to Remember When Someone You Love is Depressed

I am not sure even where to start I did post months back about my partner of 4 years. I feel we are on a rollercoaster ride. Good moments and bad moments He suffers from severe depression due to the loss of two of his children on seperate occassions He is on meds but I don't think they are helping him anymore. I have suggested that he go back to the docs and get it looked at. Maybe try a different med. He is totally against that. Tells me I am not his mother. I don't beleive he is telling the doctor the truth about how he actually is.

Mind you, he only sees the doctor when he has to get his sript renewed He has told me he knows he is getting worse but won't do anything about it. Instead, I get his angry state He never apologises for how he speaks to me, never accepts responsibility or wants to talk about it. I asked him what he wants me to do. I love him with all my heart. I don't want the relationship to end, but I really don't know how much longer I can take this. I have had bad news of late too and have had some very emotional days He was not like this when we met, infact he was totally the opposite.

It has been in the past i-2 years that I have noticed him get progressively worse. I offer to go to the doctors with him, no he won't even go unless he has to get his script renewed. Whenever I try and have a chat as I feel he is in a better place he then just shuts me out and says, 'would you just stop, i don't want to talk, this makes my depression worse I worry though I have not been out with my friends as much as I am not sure what he will do. He has had nights of drinking and playing the kids funeral songs and then plays his funeral song!

He is in a really bad place I have no idea what to do. He won't talk with me about it. He just gets angry if I broach anything about getting help or support. He ignores me if I tell him I am not coping with it all very well and he is bringing me down too There is so much more but I would be here for quite a while writing everything I am not a quitter and I don't want to give up on him, but at the same token, I need to know if he actually wants to be here with me.

He has said a few times now he doesn't so my self esteem is low and I have doubt. I also need to know he wants to help himself. I have tried so hard to offer support, be there for him etc. What do I do? I am feeling drained and very emotional I just want to cry a lot of the times. I need the emotional side of the relationship too but he just can't seem to return it You have been such a wonderful person to your partner - it must be really hard when you're not feeling the same support reciprocated.

It is hard for me to do this as I hate to see him suffering and feel the need to always be there for him I can not do a temporary separation I have no family here and I would not burden friends by moving in with them even if short term. I can not afford to rent temporarily anywhere His first child died not in his care at age He blames himself for both deaths Both he could not have prevented or helped at the time.

But about 3 weeks ago he hit an extreme low point and attempted suicide. Within these following weeks things were rocky but were getting better I was trying to be supportive and he was usually very accepting.

I have depression, and my boyfriend and I have been dating for a year now. He has said before that my depression worries him because of his last girlfriend, who had depression. She didn't do anything about it and treated him badly. He has addressed it with me, and I see where he is coming from. I needed to hear it so I could adjust how I react and behave when I feel it gets the best of me.

It's awesome when people want to help and support another person struggling with depression, especially partners. Many people are afraid of depression and have no idea what to do. I will offer some suggestions. First of all, your GF's actions are very common. Many, many people push others away when they are having a crisis. The rationale is they do not want to hurt others, place unnecessary strain on others and generally stuff up someone else's life. I know, I've been there and I'm struggling not to do the same again now. What people cannot grasp when they are in this state is that those they push away feel more hurt by this rejection than by the strain of helping someone they love.

Hi, im not very good at these. My girlfriend of two years has always struggled with severe anxiety and depression. She stopped taking medication for her depressive episodes before i met her, however this recent episode appears to be her worst, as in this time, she has almost completely pushed me away. For the past two years things have been wonderful, we have been in love, she was always super mushy and affectionate towards me, and we had plans for a future together. This past spring we had to take a break however due to our families, but we recovered and were happier than ever, finding new confidence in ourselves and eachother.
