There have been a whopping seven Marvel films between the first Ant-Man and its sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp , so if your memory of where you last see Scott Lang is a little hazy, you're forgiven.
As with most things MCU, timelines can get a bit complicated so we're here to help get you up to speed. In the original Ant-Man , Scott finds himself briefly fighting with Sam Wilson aka Falcon at the Avengers' Headquarters while trying to steal a piece of technology to assist in their heist.
The film's after-credits scene actually takes place shortly after the beginning of what would be the next MCU film, Captain America: Civil War.
Sam tells Steve that he thinks he knows a guy who might be able to help. Scott adds several unique abilities to the fight, as many of his skills are yet to be known by the rest of the group. We see him and Cap throwing a miniature truck to then enlarge it, squaring off against Black Widow by shrinking down, using his increased strength, and riding one of Hawkeye's arrows towards Tony Stark to slip beneath and disrupt his suit.
Finally, Scott shows off a new power — the ability to increase in size becoming Giant-Man. Unfortunately for Cap's team, all are apprehended — except for Steve and Bucky, who flee in pursuit of Zemo and the truth. Those captured are taken to a floating prison called the Raft, which is designed to hold people with exceptional powers of some kind.
Thankfully, Steve returns to set everyone free at the end of the film. What we do know is that Ant-Man and the Wasp is set before the events of Avengers: Infinity War , and could contain clues pointing towards potential solutions to the ending of that film.
The Real Reason Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man Wasn’t In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame. At the end of Avengers: Infinity War , Thanos uses powerful gems called Infinity Stones to snap his fingers and destroy half of all life in the universe. At the beginning of its follow-up film Avengers: Endgame , the Avengers hunt down Thanos and try to take the Infinity Stones back to undo the damage. Unfortunately for them, Thanos has already destroyed the Stones.
When he makes himself minuscule he's virtually impossible to hit and when he grows into a buggy behemoth, even Hulk suddenly starts to look a bit inadequate. And it's a simple fact that, had Ant-Man been in Avengers: Infinity War , he would have easily saved the day by throwing one of his shrinking bombs at the Infinity Gauntlet, hilariously making it too small to fit on Thanos's ginormous purple hand. If anything, it would have been too easy for Ant-Man, which is probably the real reason he was left out of the film altogether. But we know that Ant-Man definitely makes an appearance in Avengers: Endgame as he pops up at the end of the first trailer.

While the film's directors, the Russo brothers, have remained tight-lipped about the upcoming blockbuster, trailers and cast interviews have hinted at how things will play out. Warning: potential spoilers ahead. However, despite such mass destruction, the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe looks set in stone. With those sequels coming soon, we can assume those characters will be un-dusted and that the Avengers will defeat Thanos. Multiple reports have also emerged concerning characters who previously died coming back for the sequel — including Peggy Carter and Crossbones. All this heavily hints at time-travel. But how exactly will the Avengers go back? After being rescued, Janet discusses the power of quantum energy with her daughter Hope Evangeline Lilly and husband Hank Michael Douglas. However, that scene from the trailer itself hints at time-travel. The likely answer appears to be that Lang escaped the quantum realm but ended up in the wrong time period, travelling back to rather than

What role will Ant-Man play in Avengers: Endgame?
However, their plan was uncovered by Cross, who managed to kidnap Lang's daughter , resulting with a final fight where Ant-Man defeated Cross by sending them both to the Quantum Realm. Ant-Man was able to survive the journey into the Quantum Realm, giving Pym hope that his wife could be saved as Lang returned into his old life, only to be told that the Avengers had learnt of him and began seeking him out. Ant-Man was then recruited to joining Captain America 's side during the Avengers' Civil War , having been recommended by the Falcon following the previous encounter during Ant-Man's battle against Cross. Upon learning of Helmut Zemo 's plan to manipulate the Avengers, Ant-Man had then joined their battle against Iron Man 's side to get Captain America and the Winter Soldier to safety so they could find and defeat Zemo. Despite completing the mission, Ant-Man and several of his new allies were captured by Thaddeus Ross , who had them imprisoned in the Raft for going against their Sokovia Accords. While they were freed by Captain America, Ant-Man and Hawkeye simply decided not to become fugitives, instead making the deal with the FBI to give up their heroics and be put under house arrest, ensuring they could still spend time with their own families. Before Lang's house arrest was completed, he began getting visions of Janet van Dyne , who had remained trapped inside the Quantum Realm.
